National Home Office Project
Workare was leading the Health Screening roll out for the latest Home
Office Research project into the possible effects of TETRA technology and the
use of new communication systems within the UK Police Force
South Wales Constabulary were the first to sign up for the Health Screening
initiative which is quite comprehensive and involves a range of
clinical tests from waist measurements and blood pressure to blood tests and ECGs (see link to
policehealth.org)
We use the latest laptop technology and there is a requirement for each
participant to complete a questionnaire on a computer notebook at the end of the
screening
The programme commenced on 12 September 2005 and is part of a 10 year research
project. Workare completed their screening schedule in June 2008 having screened
almost 4500 officers and staff from the south Wales force, Gwent and
Dyfed Powys - Workare set "the gold standard" for screening we were
told.
During the course of the screening we did pick up a few medical problems
and actually saved several peoples lives by early detection of
symptomless medical conditions. |
